Use these basic English sentences to get where you need in a simple and quick way: Edition 1 – The Airport.

Imagine, you are traveling to a new country with a new language and maybe even with a culture which is completely strange or new to you. Maybe you have already travelled here before and came across troubles when needing something. From not knowing how to ask something, getting lost or always having to use google Translate to let people know what you need. Look no further as this post will help you on your journey with some useful basic phrases.

You arrive at the airport; you pass the check-in and you have passes customs. But now what? You are looking for something to do to kill your time, but you are not quite sure what you can do? Use these phrases to go shopping, to get to a restaurant or when you are looking for the restrooms!

  • ¿Dónde puedo encontrar esta(s) tienda(s)?
    Where can I find this/these shops?
  • ¿Dónde puedo encontrar la puerta …?
    Where can I find gate …?
  • ¿Dónde puedo encontrar el baño?
    Where can I find the restrooms?
  • ¿Sabes con qué compañía aérea vuelo?
    Do you know with which airline I fly?
  • ¿Dónde puedo encontrar un cajero automático?
    Where can I find an ATM?

Hopefully these phrases will help you get to the right gate, with the right airline at the right time. As some of the flights don´t often take much longer than two hours, food or movies aren´t often included. However, if you would like any of these, use the following phrases to get what you are looking for:

  • ¿Podría comprar unas auriculares, por favor?
    Could I buy some headphones, please?
  • ¿Me da algo para comer/beber?
    May I have something to eat/drink?

Sadly, it may also occur that you lose one of your possesions. Whether it´s a book, your phone or maybe even your passport, the following sentence can be used in many cases when you have lost something:

  • Discuple, ¿me podría ayudar? Parece que me he perdido…
    Excuse me sir/madam, could you please help me? I seem to have lost…

Hopefully, these sentences will help you whilst traveling as this is supposed to give you a lot of joy. Nevertheless, if the journey isn´t going quite as nice as planned, these sentences will give you all the positive energy to find what you need! But for now, enjoy your trip!
