Watching TV shows is one of the best, and most fun ways, to improve your English. Not only can watching TV shows improve your listening, grammar, and vocabulary skills, but almost more importantly they can help you integrate yourself better into English-speaking culture.
Here I will provide you with some of the most famous TV shows that most English speakers know and love.
I would recommend first watching the show in English with Spanish subtitles, then eventually watching it with English subtitles and hopefully eventually you will be able to watch the show without any subtitles!
FRIENDS
Friends is one of the most famous TV shows of all time and is a must-watch for anyone learning English. Although the show is from the 2000s, it is still an integral part of pop culture, and the characters are known and loved by all.
This show follows the lives of a group of friends living in New York and the bizarre events that they experience in their day-to-day lives. It is funny, light-hearted, and easy to watch. Also, with 10 seasons it is a great show to binge-watch.
MODERN FAMILY
One of my personal favorite shows of all time, Modern Family is an American classic. It follows the life of an unconventional family, it is hilarious to watch and relatively easy to understand.
This award-winning show will have you laughing at your screen, but it also has a storyline that is easy to follow. I highly recommend this show if you are looking for something a bit more recent.
THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF
If you would prefer to watch a British TV show, or you find the British accent a bit easier to understand, this show is a must-watch for you. This show is a baking competition and is an integral part of British culture. It follows 12 amateur bakers who compete to earn the title of the best British baker.
This show will allow you to learn some common British phrases, to better understand British humor, and to improve your understanding of the different accents that exist within the UK.
