Gracias a San Valentín, seguimos honrando a nuestros seres queridos en febrero.
¿Por qué? Se dice que el sacerdote romano curaba a la gente y regalaba flores a las parejas enamoradas. En Inglaterra, por primera vez, sus hazañas fueron conmemoradas con una festividad y así nació la costumbre de regalar flores.
Se dice que el día de San Valentín no es tan importante en España, pero averigüémoslo en el resto del mundo. No te preocupes si en realidad no eres el mayor fanático del 14 de febrero, porque hoy no nos pondremos demasiado románticos.
Hablando de romance… ¿Es realmente tan romántico gastar 18 mil millones de dólares en flores, dulces y los llamados «corazones de conversación» que incluyen pequeños mensajes como «Bésame»? Eso es al menos lo que los estadounidenses tienden a hacer. Aparte de eso, también dan regalos a su familia, amigos e incluso a veces a sus mascotas.
En Japón o Corea del Sur, las mujeres no solo regalan flores a sus novios o esposos, sino también a sus colegas, padres y amigos. Tradicionalmente se regala chocolate negro. Los hombres devuelven esta atención un mes después, el 15 de marzo, el “día blanco”.
¿Cómo celebran la gente en Gran Bretaña y Alemania el día del amor? Bueno, si eres uno de los afortunados que tiene novio o novia, puedes llevarlos a una cita romántica, salir a una cena romántica a la luz de las velas o regalarles un pequeño regalo o incluso un pequeño poema. Si no eres uno de los afortunados, podrías estar muy enojado y decirle a todos tus amigos cuánto odias el Día de San Valentín. Para evitar estos malos sentimientos, los amigos también se juntan para celebrar el día más romántico del año y convertirlo en una fiesta de amistades. Bonito, ¿no?
En Dinamarca, la gente tiende a ser un poco más misteriosa, porque sus cartas no tienen remitente, por lo que el destinatario tiene que adivinar quien es el remitente enamorado. Además de eso, regalan ramos con campanillas, y no con rosas.
¡Imagínate recostarte en la playa para una romántica cita de picnic! Eso es absolutamente posible en Australia, ya que las temperaturas aún son bastante altas. Aunque las temperaturas difieren de las de Europa, las tradiciones son bastante similares. Lo más importante es pasar tiempo con tus seres queridos y mostrarles un poco de atención.

It’s that lovely, romantic, wonderful time of the year again! Yes, exactly, we´ re talking about Valentine’s Day! Let’s find out more about the celebration of love in today’s blog entry.
Thanks to Saint St Valentin, we´´` are still honoring our loved ones in February. Why? The Roman priest is said to have healed people and given flowers to couples in love. In England, for the first time, his deeds were commemorated with a holiday and this is how the custom of giving flowers came into being.
It is said that Valentine´s Day is not that important in Spain, but let’s find out about the rest of the world. Don´t worry if you’re actually not the biggest fan of the 14th of February, because we won’t get too romantic today.
Talking about romance … is it really that romantic spending 18 billion dollars on flowers, sweets and so-called “conversation hearts” including little messages such as “Kiss me.”? That’s at least what the Americans tend to do. Apart from that, they also give presents to their family, friends and even sometimes their pets.
In Japan or South-Korea women give not only their boyfriends or husbands flowers, but also their colleagues, fathers and friends. Traditionally dark chocolate is being gifted. Men return this attention one month later, on the 15th of March, the “white day”.
How do people in Great-Britain and Germany celebrate the day of love? Well, if you´re one of the lucky ones having a boyfriend or girlfriend, you might take them on a romantic date, go out for a romantic candlelight-dinner or gift them a little present or even a little poem. If you´re not one of the lucky ones, you might just be very angry and tell all your friends how much you hate Valentines Day. To avoid these bad vibes, friends also come together to celebrate the most romantic day of the year and turn it into a celebration for friendships. Nice, isn’t it?
In Denmark, people tend to be a little more mysterious, because their letters don’t have any sender, so the recipient has to guess the sender in love. Besides that, they give away bouquets with snowdrops and not with roses.
Imagine laying on the beach for a romantic picnic-date! That´s what´s absolutely possible in Australia, as the temperatures are yet quite high. Even if temperatures differ to the ones in Europe, the traditions are quite similar. The most important thing is spending time with your loved ones and showing them a little attention.
